Book Drive!
We need your *gently* used books! Phantom Lake Elementary is welcoming a new teacher this week, a third kindergarten teacher, Mrs Banerjee! Our new teacher is in need of books for her classroom. Please look through your bookshelves and consider donating your *gently* used books - picture books, early-reading books, children's books - to our book drive to help stock her classroom! All reading levels are welcome, but kindergarten-level reading is preferred!
Books can be dropped off at the front office any time! |

Walk to School Day!
Lace up those sneakers and walking shoes and walk to school on Wednesday, October 10th!
Prizes will be given to the kids for walking to school!
Also, if you live too far to walk, consider parking at either of our neighborhood parks (Evergreen Park located off Lake Hills Blvd or Lake Hills Park located off 164th Ave SE - there is a trail from this park that cuts through PLE) or the Lake Hills Library and walking from there! |

Reflections
Everyone should have gotten a 2-page (front and back) handout through kid mail that goes over the official rules and entry for the National PTA Reflections program.
The Reflections program is an arts contest put on by the National PTA for the last 50 years. The program helps "students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life". (from the National PTA Reflections Arts Program webpage) If you walked through Crossroads Mall last spring, you may have seen displays in the hallway by Hallmark showcasing Reflections work from students in surrounding schools.
Students in all grades (pre-K-5 at Phantom Lake) can create and submit original works of art in one or all of the available arts categories. The categories are: Dance Choreography; Film; Literature; Music; Photography; and Visual Arts.
Our theme this year is Heroes Around Me (you'll see fliers with "Heroes Around Me" on the notice boards around school!).
Submissions are due to the front office by November 1!

Volunteer Opportunities!
The PTA works as a team of volunteers focusing on many important issues and events that involve our children and school. If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to have you! We have a wide variety of needs; commitments can be short or long-term. Please CLICK HERE to view the volunteer positions we currently have open or go to the Open Volunteer Positions page under the PTA tab on our website.
Harvest Dance!
Decorations, theme, cashiers, food, handling the doors, are a few of the things that need to be done to pull off the best dance party of the year! Click Here to view the sign-up form!
Yearbook Help!
We need a couple people who would be willing to help set up the PLE yearbook! It's great at-home volunteer work that you can do from the comfort of your pajamas. The work is laying out photos; basically making a photo book online. Please contact Caryn Lange at carynlange@gmail.com! |

Playground Update
The new playground at PLE has an updated time table of mid-November. We are working closely with the Bellevue School District, however, unforseen circumstances have pushed the date back. We will continue to update everyone as more info comes in. |
